New Johnsonville Police Department

         The New Johnsonville Police Department serves a population of approximately 2,000 citizens. The Department is staffed by a Chief, Lieutenant, and (3) full-time patrol officers. The department provides a full spectrum of services including, but not limited to, patrol, property and narcotic investigations, traffic enforcement, and crime prevention services. 

         Each officer meets or exceeds the State of Tennessee P.O.S.T  certification requirement by receiving a minimum of 40 hours of in-service training each year. Quality training and education is a top priority for the New Johnsonville Police Department. Continuing training and educations ensures each officers maintains knowledge of changes in laws, police procedures, and new law enforcement techniques. Each officer has completed a certified Basic Police Academy, specialized schools on a variety of topics including traffic accident investigation, criminal investigations, patrol drug interdiction, DUI enforcement, and child sexual abuse investigations.

          The New Johnsonville Police Department is committed to providing quality service to our citizens. We want to provide a safe community for individuals to live and grow. 

Bronson Morgan, Chief

           Chief Morgan has served in Law Enforcement since 2002.  Chief Morgan formally worked for the Dickson Police Department and the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office. During his time at the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office, Chief Morgan served in various roles. Chief Morgan served as Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, Supervisor, Detective, Drug Agent, and a member of the Emergency Response Team. 

 

           Chief Morgan attended Nashville State Community where he obtained his Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Chief Morgan is currently a member of a multi-jurisdictional Special Response Team. 

Ryan Lawser, Lieutenant

            Officer Lawser has served in Law Enforcement since 2014. Officer Lawser attended the Basic Police Academy at Cleveland State Community College. Officer Lawser previously worked for the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office. While employed with the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office, Officer Lawser was a Field Training Officer and Supervisor. 

 

            Officer Lawser is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science from Bethel University. Officer Lawser is currently certified as a Field Training Officer and Active Shooter Instructor. Officer Lawser is also a member of a multi-jurisdictional Special Response Team. 

Joe Yates, Patrolman/K9

         Officer Yates has served in Law Enforcement since 2013.  Officer Yates attended the Basic Police Academy at Cleveland State Community College. Officer Yates formerly worked for the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office where he served in various roles. While employed with the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office, Officer Yates served as a Field Training Officer, K9 Handler, and a member of the Emergency Response Team. 

        Officer Yates currently serves as the department's K9 handler. Officer Yates and his K9 partner, Argos, went through three weeks of Narcotics Training in Gallatin, TN in October 2018. Officer Yates and K9 Argos will undergo narcotics training every month. Both, Officer Yates and K9 Argos, have been certified under the United States Police Canine Association. Officer Yates is also a member of a multi-jurisdictional Special Response Team.
